I have a confession to make, gentle readers:

I'm not only a writer of The Powerpuff Girls comics -- I'm also a fan.

Ever since I laid eyes on their freakishly large heads back in '96, I've been head-over-heels mad about those girls. The Keane-meets-Jay Ward character designs, the rave-inspired theme music, the anime action, the dolls, the sticker books, the bobble-head dolls -- I fell for it all, people. Hook, line and sinker.

So when Sean Carolan and I heard that we were to write the first issue of the PPG comic, it goes without saying that I was thrilled to contribute to a series that I felt was the best thing to happen to TV cartoons since Ren & Stimpy. So thanks to Craig McCracken and his staff for creating a consistently fresh & funny all-girl superhero show that never fails to inspire.

Thanks to our editors for their support -- even when their instincts told them otherwise.

Last, but not least, thanks to all the fans who got behind the comic and made a story about pre-school superheroines one of the top ten selling funnybooks in the US.

*sob*! Now I'm all verklempt! Go talk amongst yourselves...
